Brazil's trade balance has surplus of US$ 29.7 billion in 2011

Brazil's trade balance surplus in 2011 reached US$ 29.7 billion and presented growth of 47.8% over 2010. The result is the highest number in the last four years, except for 2007, when it was US$ 40 billion. Brazilian exports in the year reached new peaks, totaling US$ 256.041 billion, an increase of 26.8% over the previous year's result, which also happened to imports (US$ 226.251 billion, with a high of 24.5%) and trade (US$ 482.292 billion, an increase of 25.7%).
The Deputy Minister, Alessandro Teixeira, noted that the growth of Brazilian sales in the year is significant among the major economies, being surpassed only by India (45%), Russia (32%) and Australia (32%).
"With this, we'll see the growth of the Brazilian participation in world trade, which we call market share. We have today around 1.3% market share and we will surpass the 1.4% mark, gaining positions in the international market", said Teixeira. The Secretary of foreign trade (MDIC), Tatiana Lacerda Prazeres says that Brazilian exports growth in the year took place in all categories of products: basic items (36.1%), semi-manufactured goods (27.7%) and manufactured items (16%).
Taking into consideration the industrialized products (manufactured and semi-manufactured goods), the increase was 19%. This result is higher than that registered in other countries during the year, as for example, United States (12%), Germany (10%) and Australia (3%).
The main countries of Brazilian exports destination in 2011 were: China (US$ 44.3 billion), United States (US$ 25.9 billion), Argentina (US$ 22.7 billion), Netherlands (US$ 13.6 billion) and Japan (US$ 9.5 billion). The largest exporters to Brazil were: United States (US$ 34.2 billion), China (US$ 32.8 billion), Argentina (US$ 16.9 billion), Germany (US$ 15.2 billion) and South Korea (US$ 10.1 billion).
