Brazilian agribusiness exports grow 22% in October

The increase of Brazilian exports soy complex, coffee, sugar alcohol complex, fiber, textiles, grain and flour had significant performance in October in the trade balance of agribusiness, said the Ministry of Agricultures, Cattle and Supply last Friday (Nov 11). The five sectors accounted for 81.5% of the boosting exports of the month. In total, the agricultural shipments in October were US$ 8.58 billion, an increase of 22.6% in comparison with the same month of 2010, which totaled US$ 7 billion.

The fastest-growing sector was the sugar alcohol complex, with US$ 1.68 billion, growth of 15.3% compared to the same month of 2010. Sugar was the main item exported by this sector in October, with the amount of US$ 1.48 billion, or 9.7% registered in the previous period. However, in relation to alcohol, there was an increase of 84.5% when compared to October 2010, reaching US$ 201 million.

Brazilian agribusiness exports reached a record amount of US$ 91,902 billion in the last 12 months (October/November/2010 to 2011). An expansion of 24.4% compared to US$ 73,878 billion in exports in the same period of the previous year. Imports grew by 32.1%, reaching the record US$ 16,765 billion in the period of one year. In total, the trade balance surplus of agribusiness reached US$ 75,136 billion accumulated in the past twelve months.
